We will begin this new “church” year with twenty-one days of seeking God’s heart for nothing less than a “Christ-awakening” – a renewed vision that Christ is Supreme in His Majesty – as the foundation upon which He can build the various outreach ministries of Providence Church (PC) for His Glory!
We will be specifically asking that:
God’s Spirit use God’s Word to re-convert God’s people back to God’s Son for ALL that He is – to reintroduce us to Christ as the FOCUS of God’s person; as the FULFILLMENT of God’s purposes; as the FULLNESS of God’s promises and as the FERVENCY OF God’s people in building His kingdom.
“His Supremacy proclaims Christ’s right to keep us at the center of who He is, where He is headed, what He is imparting, and how He is blessed.”1 We are asking Father to awaken us to a vision of the glory, greatness and majesty of Christ; that we be consumed with the wonders of who Christ is TO us, OVER us, WITHIN us, THROUGH us and UPON us. We want to more fully embrace for ourselves the wonder and vastness of Jesus’ preeminence, glory and majesty – so that we might give ourselves more fully to “Christ Alone”.
We want to enlarge our vision of Him who alone can revive and mobilize our congregation for the work of His kingdom for His glory in our community. We want to experience “the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord”, to drink in the unequaled beauty of Jesus Christ and His supremacy in all that He is.
Our goal is to know Him better; to better understand His ways; to be enabled to face life’s challenges; to become more like Him; to become a worshiper in spirit and truth; and, to learn what it means to love Him with all our heart, soul, strength and mind, so that we will find, as the Shulamite maiden did, that, “HE IS ALTOGETHER LOVELY”(SS 5:15). This incredible revelation of the risen Christ “at God’s right hand” in all His glory, majesty and beauty, is the thing that must capture our hearts and minds. We must set our sights upon this reality of heaven in order to reach our goal.
